Matt focuses the majority of his practice in the areas of workers’ compensation and litigation, where he represents employers, insurance carriers and third-party administrators. He has specific experience working with rural employers such as farmers, tobacco companies and cotton and hog farms and is often called upon to provide continuing education for his clients on a variety of topics. Matt has a unique ability to calmly evaluate client needs and develop aggressive strategies to meet their objectives.

Matt always knew he wanted to be an attorney. He graduated from North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management and continued on to North Carolina Central University School of Law where he received his Juris Doctor degree. During law school, Matt was a member of the Phi Alpha Delta International Law Fraternity, serving two years as the co-chair of the service committee. During his third year, he received the service award from Phi Alpha Delta for his work with the Durham Boys and Girls Club and Ronald McDonald House. Matt continues his service to the firm and the community by volunteering with The Food Bank of Eastern North Carolina and remaining an active member of Hayes Barton Methodist Church.

Matt lives in Raleigh, where he was born and raised, with his wife Rebecca, their two young sons and a mischievous goldendoodle named “Savannah.” In his spare time he plays soccer in an adult league, continuing a lifelong pastime, and enjoys a quick getaway to the coast or mountains with family. An avid NC State fan, he attends NC State sporting events anytime he has an opportunity and enjoys visiting area restaurants and breweries.
